Mosell Egyptian King Tut & Scarab Novelty Vintage Figural Brooch Chatelaine - 1940s
MosellMosell Egyptian King Tut & Scarab Novelty Brooch Chatelaine dates to the 1940s and sold as a museum or department store novelty piece. Originally attributed to Mosell's early efforts in New York - unsigned. Looks like a Calvaire face to me but purchased as Mosell and he did make Egyptian Theme pieces in the early 40s. The enamel of the Tut is very good, the gold tone metal is good on both the Tut and the Scarab. The rhinestones are original as is the chain. The pin backs on both are straight, the clasp is the old "c" and holds securely. The Tut measures 1 1/4 inches and the scarab measures 3/4 inches. A very nice chatelaine and authentic 90 odd-year-old Egyptian subject piece for the collectors.
