HAR Fortune Teller Genie Fantasy Vintage Costume Figural Brooch & Earrings Set. Beautiful late 1950s Costume Jewelry Set. The brooch and earrings measure 1 3/4 inches tall and 3/4 inches wide. In very good to excellent condition, the enamel, metal, stones and crystals are all original and extant; there is minor plate wear on the brooch turban. The earrings are clasp and open and close smoothly; the brooch pin back is straight and strong, the clasp locks securely. The matching HAR Fortune Teller Fantasy bracelet is also available for purchase.
HAR appears to have been part of Hargo Creations manufacturing in New York in the mid-50's. Pieces marked HAR appeared in stores in the mid 50s with no advertising fanfare or announcement and equally, with no announcement, disappeared in the mid '60 - seemingly last sold new between 1965/66. HAR created very highly stylized fantasy costume jewelry and was and is highly sought as both wearables and collectibles. All that is really verifiable with written records appears as Joseph Heibronner and Edith Levitt created Hargo sometime in the mid-50's and used both Hargo and Har markings (information attributed to the Brunailti's excellent research). Much, however, can be speculated regarding close design and manufacturing ties to CFW and ART.
