Longcraft Donkey Pulling Flower Wagon Cart Vintage Figural Costume Brooch.  In excellent vintage condition, dating to the 1930s, metal-plated gutta-percha war-time jewelry.  The gold-finish, rhinestones and enamel details are original and bright. The donkey and wagon measures 2 1/2 inches wide by just over 1 1/2 inches tall.  The pin back is straight and strong, the clasp locks securely.  An excellent piece of war-time American gutta percha plated jewelry. This jewelry creation was a popular use of tiny bits of scrap copper or other metals, a manufacturing "use it all" patterned method created by Longcraft during WW2 when metals were scarce. These pieces were considered a reasonable and cost-effective "vermeil" look and to date have lasted as bright and shining examples of manufacturing ingenuity. There are a series of these well-made brooches that are desirable collectibles. The pin back on this piece is straight and strong, the clasp locks securely.  The piece is part of a very large Longcraft collection owned by my family for over 60 years.
