Bauman Massa Mexican and His Stubborn Mule Vintage Figural Brooch - BM designed this figural in the 1940s as part of a department store travel set of costume jewelry figurals. This particular piece of the set has long been incorrectly attributed to Boucher.  Made of pot metal and enamel, this figural pin was manufactured in the early 1940's and measures a large 3 wide x 1 3/4 tall. All enamel and stones are original. Pin back is straight and clasp locks securely. This piece is part of a theme set of collectible exotic travel pieces representing Mexico and South America and named South of the Border - the collections were created during gas rationing as sight-seeing was prohibited. The travel pieces have been attributed as manufactured by Bauman Massa and consigned by the Chanel Reinad Novelty Jewelry Co.
