Staret Lady Liberty Torch Patriotic WW2 REMAKE Figural Pin Brooch - NOT ORIGINAL - 1970s.  This is the remake COPY of the 1940s Staret not to be confused with the smaller and more highly coveted original.  The original almost always has reddish and purple stones versus the blue or a blue mix as seen on this piece. The original has more compact flames, has shorter painted finger nails, is about an 1/8 inch smaller, a more detailed back and a double row of rhinestones on her sleeve cuff versus the single row pictured below.  I have both and they are fairly similar until you see them both together.  Please see picture of the two side-by-side.  Unfortunately several reputable jewelry reference books showcase the "remake" as an original and collectors (like me TWICE) have been fooled. The remake is worth about $500.00 if in perfect condition and much easier to find.  This particular piece is an excellent remake of the Liberty torch and a perfectly acceptable and more affordable piece of alternative patriotic jewelry for wear but again NOT THE ORIGINAL.
